A civil servant in Kogi state was yesterday crushed to death by a petrol tanker in Lokoja, the state capital.
DAILY POST was informed that late Mohammed Gimba Salisu was until his death a staff of the state Ministry of Education.
The deceased, it was gathered, had not been paid since April 2016.
Gimba, riding his motorcycle, was said to be approaching the popular Ganaja junction when he lost concentration and could not negotiate the bend away from the petrol truck.
The heavy duty vehicle subsequently crushed him beyond recognition.
His death occurred one week after a director in the state civil service commission, Edward Soje, was found dead.
His lifeless body was discovered dangling on a tree in Lokoja.
Kogi State Police Public Relation Officer, William Aya, while confirming the latest incident, said: “There was a fatal accident involving DAF Truck with REG/NO ABUJA 159 XD loaded with PMS, driven by Suleiman Yakubu, ‘M’ of Zaria, and JINCHEN Motor Cycle with REG/NO KPA 041 ridden by Mohammed Gimba.
“The rider died on the spot and was taken to FMC mortuary.”
The victim has been buried according to Islamic rite.
